AINTREE RACECOURSE

Aintree Racecourse is one of the UK's most famous racecourses and home to the Grand National and the Martell Cup. Aintree Racecourse is steeped in racing history, having held its first official races in 1829.

In 1839 Aintree Racecourse saw the first running of the Grand National; one of horse racing's best-known events. Run over two circuits of Aintree's Grand National course, totalling four-and-a-half miles, the Grand National is a handicap steeplechase for horses over six years old.

Aintree Racecourse has two National Hunt courses. The Grand National course is a left-handed circuit of two-miles two-furlongs with a long run-in. It is flat with large fences, many of which have a drop landing.

Aintree's Mildmay course is a one-mile three-furlong left-hander, flat and sharp with regulation fences.

Situated on the on the A59, Aintree Racecourse is easily accessible and only five miles from Liverpool city centre.
